Grab Your Bicycle, Bike the Bitterroot, and Stay Overnight in Victor, MT.

Never bicycle camped before?  No worries -- join the Bitterroot Travel Preservation Alliance (BTPA) on an overnight bike ride from Missoula to Victor, MT. 

The ride is approximately 30 miles.  You can take your time and explore the Bitterroot Trail and the local communities at your own pace. See the detail map of the trail here. If you want a longer ride, you can ride farther and meet up with the group in the evening. The group will gather at 5:30 pm at Victor Park to go eat at a local Victor restaurant. (If you would rather bring and prepare your meals, feel free to do that but you will need to bring your own camp stove.)  Victor Park is a small, well maintained, town park with green lawn, restrooms, water, shelter with picnic tables, but NO showers or grills.  

We will leave Missoula on Saturday, September 15th at noon -- meet at the Bitterroot Trail and Mary Ave. near Southgate Mall. Please arrive by 11:30 if you want your gear transported to Victor Park and please contact Diana ahead of time so we know how many need gear transported. However, we encourage you to carry your gear to enjoy the full experience of bicycle camping.

The basics for camping include:

• Sleeping bag,
• Camp pad,
• Small tent, or bivy sack,
• Money for beverages and meals along the trail,
• Food (if you do not plan to eat in restaurants),
• Personal items: toiletries, change of clothes, etc. and;
• Headlamp or flashlight.

Autumn weather in western Montana in mid-September can vary from hot and dry -- to cool and rainy. Please check local weather forecast and pack accordingly.

The group will break camp and depart Sunday morning at 10:30am.  (Your camping gear must be ready for loading by 10:00 am if you want it transported back to Missoula.) For those who want to go to breakfast, please be ready at 9am. We expect to be back in Missoula around 3:00 PM.
